Jo Lapage fused glass designer maker.

Bespoke handmade Contempory fused glass panels and glassware for functional use in the home or the office. Inspired by the vibrant colours, translucency, visual properties and endless applications glass has to offer Jo has developed an array of work and is always interested to explore new directions

Jo incorporates several techniques to create the final masterpiece and has a range of popular giftware including recycled bottle gifts, jewellery, small window hangings, dishes, platters, coasters, tiles, wall panels and splash backs; she has also undertaken private and commercial commissions.

Initially inspired by working in the hydrotherapy pool with arthritic patients (a former chartered senior physiotherapist- rheumatology & rehabilitation) Jo was  made very aware of the healing , soothing and life giving qualities of water and the need for colour, movement and art in all our lives. Formally a resident artist at the Arches in Southampton, she now works from her home studio.

Art credentials

Jo took an adult education course in leaded stained glass windows so she could repair the leaded panels in her 1920’s house. This was the start of her passion for glass. She returned to formal education first attending an access to Art & Design course at Southampton City College and then completed a Ba (hons) Fine art at Portsmouth University in 2005. Jo has studied various glass techniques at Fantasia glass Shedfield, Eastleigh college, Warm glass Bristol, Liquid glass Trowbridge, West Dean college near Chichester and  Swansea Metropolitan University as well attending master classes with renowned artists in her field:- Dr Vanessa Cutler- water jet while studying for a masters architectural glass( not completed), Johnathane Cooke traditional stained glass painting(5 day); Tracey Sheppard FGE- engraving( 2year adult education and study weekends), Katherine Coleman MBE-engraving(2 day), Fiaz Elson (5day)- casting and polishing and Catherine Newell (USA)( fused glass layer images)4day

Jo regularly attends the Art & Design market in Winchester in the high street (3rd Sunday of the month) New for 2013 Southampton high street and Hythe – see events page. She has taken part in Hampshire Open studios in2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. She has had sold in the past  through Southampton Art  gallery, Ox market gallery Chichester, Between dreams Botley, Acacia spa Sway , Spice gallery  Bittern and the Arches Bazaar Bargate center Southampton as well as smaller  fundraising events.
